your induction to school

Posted on

Tonight while I was rocking you, you were telling me random stories as they popped into your head. It was quite sweet. Something about “very exciting news!” “What’s that Sweetie?”
“Siobhan will be in after care 4 days!”
“That’s so great!”
“Yeah, I love her so much. She’s my BESSSST friend.”

Something about “Today I chased my brother all over. He didn’t like it so much, but I had to. Know why? Because I love him so much!”

It was quiet for a minute or so, and then you circled your straight arm around and into the air.

You said, “You know what this is Mama? This is what we do when we want to say something.”
And you circled your arm back into the air and held it there.
I ask, “Really? What does your teacher say when you do that?”
“She says, ‘Yeeessssss?'”

[pause]
You continue…
“And if this arm gets tired, you can put it down and put the other one up.” (you demonstrate for me.)
[pause]
“And if they BOTH get tired, you can put them down and just give them a break.”

Ah, and school has begun.

Since I haven’t had time to post these – here are the very precious first day of school pictures I took.
So excited to put on your new school outfit, still half asleep on your way to the bathroom:

You were asked to pose for a picture but the camera was on “video” settings. Look at all the kisses I got!!! I am so blessed:

Your first homework assignment – “Decorate a bag and put 1 or 2 things in it that will tell us something about you:”
again
I think you put a shell and a stuffed raccoon in your bag because, as you said, “I’m an out-door girl.”

My big girl – you’re growing up!! I couldn’t be more proud to be your Mom.

I love you my Sweet.

oma and opa’s visit 2009

As we were packing up and moving out of the cabin we rented for our vacation, Daddy Jim realized that it might be fun to stay one more day – WITH OMA AND OPA who were flying in on Saturday to stay with us for the week!! What a great idea! So one more day of swimming, paddle-boating, eating on the deck and just being outside! We missed Madeline and Daniel for sure – but having Oma and Opa around was awesome!!

The following week with Oma and Opa was filled with treasured times – reading new books Oma brought, lots of swimming, playing and drawing of pictures, some family walks. Thanks Oma and Opa – we love it so much when you’re here. Please come back again soon!!

Playing catch up on the blog – let’s start with Fammily Vacation

Posted on

Hi Baby Girl –

This summer we decided to go local for famm-ily vacation (aug 18-22) – we rented a cabin on Seneca Lake for a few days. Highlights from the week included:
* eating ice cream for breakfast
* boating on rocky waters in the morning and tubing in the afternoon
* early morning and later evening swims
* a beautiful hike
* building a snail habitat
* our first morning run together
🙂

You were thrilled to jump in the water more than ANYone else – any time, many times, often nakedy. You bring so much JOY to this world – I cannot begin to tell you. You remind the rest of us how much we stress out about stupid things unnecessarily – including, for example, the temperature of the water or the presence of algae. You see extreme beauty in rocks!! You cannot help yourself from picking and adoring every flower you see. You nurture all forms of life – including building a beautiful habitat for a snail! Thank you, Peanut. Thank you for all you do for all of us.

One morning I went for a run and you wanted to come with me. We were jogging next to each other. You were saying the sweetest things about wanting to be with me. Then your explorer side of you took over – next thing I knew you had fallen in a drainage ditch. 🙂 Oh well, it was a great first attempt. Can’t wait for next time.

Anyway, here are some pictures

oma and opa’s visit

Posted on

At the end of August, Oma and Opa came to visit. Every morning they took you to YMCA camp, and at 1pm each day they picked you and played until I was done with work. You did a lot of swimming, jungle gyms, A LOT of coloring and puzzles, many stories – new and old. We all wished they wouldn’t go home. Here are some wonderful pictures from the week… Come back again soon, Oma & Opa!! We love you!!
